As well as, closely monitoring any medication or medical needs your pets may have. We understand that each pet has their own unique personalities and we do our best to cater to any concerns you may have. We take pet sitting seriously and while you’re away, we treat your pets like our family.
Amanda Knight has been a lifelong animal lover who is passionate about pets. Growing up she learned how to take care of a wide range of animals at her neighbors house, Betts Stables in Central Square, where she fell in love with horses and goats. From there she went on to volunteering at Morey Farm in West Monroe, learning how to tend chickens, cattle and other livestock. She also loved spending time at her Aunt Barb’s who raised a flock of sheep and taught her how to card, dye, and spin wool by hand. As a child she was always trying to sneak some new critter to take care of into the house much to her Mother’s dismay. She has experience with a wide range of pets from cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, hedgehogs, horses, livestock, reptiles, hermit crabs, and more!
After meeting her childhood best friend, Matt Anderson, they quickly bonded over their love for animals. For the last fifteen years they have lived together, became engaged, and decided to start their own family tribe together. Their “furbabies” include two dogs, an American Eskimo – Winter and a cocker spaniel – Nala, and two rescued cats, Kolby and Sugar. Winter sadly has recently crossed the rainbow bridge after having a happy home with them for over 12 years! Eventually, they hope to expand their tribe with some human babies too by becoming foster parents and adopting. For now Matt works full time as a supervisor for the Post Office and Amanda has started Bark & Bay Pet Care so that they can continue to do something they enjoy together. Amanda has taken courses through Pro Pet Hero to learn cat and dog CPR and pet first aid because she understands just how important pets are to their family and wants to ensure that they are able to provide safety and peace of mind for owners while their pets are entrusted in her care. She plans to continue with her education through Cornell University to receive additional vet tech medical and animal behavior training. Amanda is also a member of the Lioness Club of Central Square and actively is involved with volunteering for numerous community projects and fundraises, such as the annual Apple Festival.
